Norwich City contenders: Alan Pardew favourite with bookies to replace Alex Neil

Alan Pardew during the Premier League match against Bournemouth at Selhurst Park

Norwich have sacked manager Alex Neil after he failed to mount a serious bid to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. We look at who could replace the Scot at Carrow Road....

ALAN PARDEW (4/11 with Sky Bet)

Pardew is available after he was dismissed by Palace in December with the Eagles 17th in the Premier League.

They won six of their 36 games under Pardew in 2016 but the former West Ham chief has promotion pedigree in the Sky Bet Championship having guided the Hammers to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2005.

GARY ROWETT (4/1)

Rowett has had an air of the next cab off the rank about him since his shock sacking at Birmingham last year. He impressed on low budgets at Burton and with the Blues and would appear to be a good fit at Carrow Road.

ROY HODGSON (6/1 with Sky Bet)

The experienced former England boss had emerged as a surprise Leicester candidate last week but he has Norwich links too, having attended games this season as a guest of owner Delia Smith. He has managed all around the world and would represent a coup, despite his England misery.

ALAN IRVINE (14/1)

The Scot has been handed temporary charge while City ponder their next move. His last role, at West Brom, ended with five wins from 22 games and he may not be a first choice among supporters desperate to return to the Premier League.

MARK WARBURTON (16/1)

He left Rangers last month and is proven in the English leagues. He did a fine job at Brentford but has been linked with Nottingham Forest for some time and could be headed there.
