Norwich manager Alex Neil has identified 'hard work' as the reason why his newly-promoted side are in the top half of the Premier League table.

The Canaries are ninth, one place above Sunday's rivals Liverpool, having won two and drawn one of their opening five matches of the season.

"It's hard work and good players, we know what we are doing and we are well drilled and I've got good players that carry out the tasks that are designated out," Neil said.

"Everybody works for the group so I think that was the key to the success last year and I think it's been the key to the games we've played this year."

Neil is not surprised by the way his squad have adapted to life in the Premier League and says many of his players are well used to competing at the top level.

"If you look at the squad that I've got, the majority have played in the Premier League before," he said.

"There are very few that haven't and so they've got that experience, they know what it entails in terms of going and competing at that level.

"We've also got enough experience throughout the group, in terms of experience to help the younger lads and bring them on and give them guidance if you like, in going forward in their career.

Brendan Rodgers has proved himself as a manager, there is no question about that, He nearly won the league a couple of years ago.
Alex Neil on Liverpool's manager

"Sunday will be a big test for everyone, going to one of the top six teams if you like. It's away from home which is always going to be tough, but as some teams have shown this season it's more than achievable for us to go there and give a good account of ourselves and hopefully take something from the game.

"I don't buy into this that Liverpool are in some sort of crisis. They have good players, are well managed and they will be a danger to any team in the league.

"Brendan Rodgers has proved himself as a manager, there is no question about that, He nearly won the league a couple of years ago and we just hope that we can do well on Sunday."
