Coventry City were locked in talks with Wasps on Friday over a deal to stay at the Ricoh Arena next season and hope to reach an agreement before Sunday's final home game of the season.
The League One club have been deep in discussions with Wasps RFC this week in order to secure their immediate future at the ground and avoid a second spell ground-sharing elsewhere.
Ahead of Sunday's clash with Shrewsbury, manager Mark Robins said: "It would be great if it's sorted by Sunday but it will take as long as it takes.
"I know there is a timeframe so I am just hoping they can get something done. But it is great that they are talking and yes, let's see if they can get things resolved."
Coventry's current Ricoh deal expires at the end of the season and failure to agree another could see them play at either Coventry Rugby Club's Butts Park Arena and or Birmingham City's St Andrews, which is approximately 20 miles away.
The club spent the 2013-14 season at Northampton's Sixfields Stadium - 35 miles away from Coventry - due to a rent dispute between the club's owners SISU and the Ricoh Arena's previous owners Arena Coventry Ltd (ACL).
The EFL told Sky Sports News this week that they had postponed an extraordinary general meeting set for Thursday that would have seen the 72 clubs vote on whether to expel Coventry from the league.
