Queens Park Rangers have signed Leon Clarke on a two-year contract after the striker was released by Sheffield Wednesday.
Clarke was not offered a new deal at Hillsborough following the Owls' relegation from the Championship and had attracted interest from several clubs.
Rs boss Neil Warnock has now won the race for the 25-year-old and is looking forward to seeing Clarke in action at Loftus Road next season.
"He's a player that I've been interested in for a very long while," Warnock told the club's
official website.
"I've always liked the look of him, and I tried to sign him earlier this year when I was at Palace.
"Some people will be surprised at this signing, but he's a player I've fancied for a very long while and I'm delighted we've got him on board."
Exciting chapter
Clarke, who had a brief loan spell at QPR in 2006, added: "I'm really looking forward to next season already.
"Neil has outlined his plans for the campaign and it promises to be an exciting chapter in the club's history.
"He spoke to me about the type of players he wants to attract here, as well as the quality of the current squad.
"He's a manager who demands the very best from his players and I can't wait to play for him."
