Northern Irishman to take up helm in Melbourne
Sky Sports understands former Ipswich and QPR boss Jim Magilton is in line to be named as the new manager of Melbourne Victory.
Victory, who have Harry Kewell among their ranks, are searching for a new manager after sacking Mehmet Durakovic earlier this week and it appears they have plumped for Magilton to replace him.
The Australian A-League outfit are looking to bring in a new boss on an interim basis until the end of the current season and they have made a move for free agent Magilton.
The former Northern Ireland international is thought to have flown Down Under for talks and is expected to seal the move over the weekend.
Magilton was assistant to new Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill at Shamrock Rovers last season, but left the Dublin-based club along with O'Neill last month.
Magilton, whose last management role was at QPR in 2009, has been keen to get back into full-time work and he has decided to take up the offer from Victory.
