Fernandes 'has best interests of club at heart'
QPR boss Mark Hughes claims he would leave if owner Tony Fernandes ran the club in the manner of his predecessor Flavio Briatore.
A television documentary to be shown at the weekend reveals the chaos at QPR under the ex-owner - with the former Renault F1 chief even shown demanding certain players are substituted.
The footage, detailing Briatore's period in charge, reveals caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth being ordered to make a change at half-time.
In a separate incident, sporting director Gianni Paladini is shown rowing with Briatore about who should tell coach Paulo Sousa that he must change the team's formation.
After watching the documentary, new manager Hughes can scarcely hide his relief that the situation at Loftus Road is a very different one now.
"It has never occurred," said Hughes in the
Daily Star, when asked about interference from above. "If it did come to that point, it is time to go I think.
Incredible time
"It is an incredible time that the club has come through and for them to end up winning the Championship and getting to the Premier League shows the drive and what had to be overcome.
"I have heard of similar situations, but possibly not all at one club - that is the main difference.
"There has been a lot of turmoil at this club and that is something we are trying to take out of the equation.
"We are trying to get the right people here, the right players, and make sure that what happened in the past in terms of the amount of change and the mistakes that were made doesn't happen in the future."
Hughes sees Fernandes as a huge part of that brighter future and feels the owner deserves nothing but praise for his role in trying to improve things.
He added: "Everyone knows that Tony has the best interests of the club at heart. He's doing all he can to bring in the right people to ensure the club has a bright future.
"I don't see how anyone can really criticise him for wanting to do that. They should shake his hand because he is trying to do the best for the club."
