Leicester captain Wes Morgan says Leicester are hoping for a good run in the Champions League

Wes Morgan says that Leicester's unique spirit can help them survive the loss of influential midfielder N'Golo Kante and build on last season's title success.

The Foxes skipper is preparing for the beginning of their title defence at Hull City on Saturday lunchtime and says they are equipped for the unique challenge that awaits the reigning champions at home and abroad.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "It is unbelievable what we achieved and it's something I will savour for the rest of my life. There is not many places I can go now around the world where someone does not come up and pat you on the back and say well done.

"This season though is going to be completely different with a lot of new managers taking over and there are a lot of new world-class players coming in as well. So we are under no illusions because it is going to be a whole new ball game from last season, and the pressure is different too, but we know what we are capable of and we just need to go out there and do it all again.

"Everyone will look at us as champions and want to knock us off our pedestal, try and take our scalp and we have to be ready for that, and we will be. We know we have to get our mentality right as we did last season."

Nampalys Mendy has arrived for a record fee to fill the void left by Kante, although that record was subsequently surpassed by the signing of forward Ahmed Musa. With Luis Hernandez, Bartosz Kapustka and Ron-Robert Zieler also brought in, Leicester have strengthened.

Morgan said: "N'Golo was fantastic. he was like having two players on the pitch at times but we have got some great new players and they are settling in quick and we will see what they can do.

Claudio Ranieri has signed a new four year deal at Leicester City and says he wants to continue to build the club

"It's important to have kept the nucleus from last season and we have managed to add to the squad too so that augurs well. We still have that togetherness which is all part and parcel of our success. I'm sure there are not many teams that have the camaraderie that we have.

"A good run in the Champions League would be great and a high-placed finish would be another target. It is going to be tougher and the opposition is going to be at a higher level so we just have to adapt and I think we can."
