Claude Puel insists Leicester were unlucky in defeat by Man City in Carabao Cup quarter-final

Leicester manager Claude Puel felt his side were unlucky not to beat Manchester City in their Carabao Cup quarter-final.
Trailing 1-0 in the final moments, a contentious late penalty allowed Jamie Vardy to level for Leicester at the King Power Stadium, before Vardy and Riyad Mahrez's misses in a penalty shoot-out sent Pep Guardiola's side through.
Leicester put up a battling performance against a young, much-changed Man City side, and Frenchman Puel thought his side deserved to win.
He told Sky Sports: "I just think we are unlucky. I think we have had most chances, it was a good game, fantastic game between two good teams, and it is a disappointment of course.
"But we have no regrets, because we gave our best, and just perhaps the beginning of the game, with 20 or 25 minutes gone we saw the quality [of Man City], but afterwards we played very well.
"It was important to play like this and give a good response after the last result [3-0 defeat at home by Crystal Palace]."
Puel, who has impressed during his short stint at Leicester since taking over from Craig Shakespeare, remained positive despite the end result, and says the level of performance shown on Tuesday night suggests the future looks bright.
"No regrets about what we could do tonight, I just think we were unlucky with a lot of chances to score," he said.
"Of course it is a disappointment for the squad, because they worked hard. I like this, this positive outlook, because we had to give a good response. It is OK for the future."
