Charlton boss currently has no plans to make any January signings

Charlton Athletic manager Chris Powell has played down speculation he is planning to raid former club Leicester City to sign Jeffrey Schlupp in January. The teenage striker has started only one game in the Championship this season and has been linked with a New Year loan move to gain first-team experience. League One leaders Charlton, along with Championship duo Crystal Palace and Millwall, have been mooted as admirers of the 19-year-old. However, Powell is not currently looking to boost his options with the capture of Schlupp, who impressed on loan at Brentford last season.

Rumours

"It is going to start now, the rumours and what have you," said Powell. "I know we've been linked with Jeff and obviously I know of him because I was at Leicester, but at this present time we're not going in for anyone right now. "Of course that may change and we will look at the situation if we need to add to our strikers or any other place, but I'm not going to talk about other players at this present time. "Remember the loan window, apart from the end of January and first week of February, is open to us until March, so there is a long period of time yet until we start thinking about others."
