Sky Sports understands that Leicester City have made an improved offer for Nottingham Forest defender Wes Morgan.
An initial bid of around £500,000 was rejected by the two-time European champions.
Steve Cotterill confirmed
earlier on Friday that the club had recieved an offer from Leicester for the defender,
news first brought to you by Sky Sports on Thursday.
The 27-year-old rugged centre-back is out of contract at the City Ground in the summer and Forest could be tempted to cash in on the fans' favourite during the transfer window, rather than risk losing him on a free in the summer.
Following the resignation of Nigel Doherty as chairman of the club, Forest can no longer rely on financial backing from the investment tycoon.
A statement from chief executive Mark Arthur on the club's
official website stated: "Nigel Doherty has made it abundantly clear what level of financial support he will provide for Nottingham Forest in the future.
"From a football point of view that means it will be up to the board, working with the manager, to raise funds for transfers and loans by selling existing players from within the squad."
Morgan joined Nottingham Forest as a trainee and has gone on to make 376 league appearances for the club.
