Argentine midfielder made available for loan

Barnsley have made midfielder Hugo Colace available for loan in a bid to recapture his best form. The Argentine netted eight goals in 45 appearances for the Tykes last term but boss Mark Robins admits "it's not working at the moment" for the player. The club is now weighing up their options, including a possible swap deal as well as a permanent move away from the club in the summer. Robins told the Sheffield Star: "We're looking at the options which are available to us with Hugo, we're trying to do what's best for the club and for the player. "It's not working at the moment so Hugo's been made available for loan. At the moment we're looking at all the options that are available to us." Colace signed a two-year deal with the club in July and has gone on to make 25 appearances this term.

Recapture

Reds director Don Rowing added: "If Hugo does go to another club, then hopefully he can recapture his best form. "He's got another year on his contract, but we've got quite a big squad and there's healthy competition for places. "We want any player we've got to do well, but at the same time they've got to be self-motivated." Meanwhile, Rowing has called on the mid-table side to show consistency if they are to mount a late promotion push. He added: "We're a middle of the table side now - and consistency is the name of the game. "When we're playing well we can beat anyone, but when we're playing bad we're really bad."
