Hull City are to discipline Marlon King after the striker's bust-up with manager Phil Brown.
The on-loan frontman reacted in an "unacceptable manner" after being named as a substitute before Saturday's game with Arsenal.
He was later replaced in the squad by Caleb Folan following a row with the boss and reportedly stormed out of the KC Stadium.
King now faces clear-the-air talks with Brown in a bid to resolve the issue but is certain to face action from the club.
The bust-up between King and Brown has left relations strained but it is understood both men have taken steps to iron out their differences.
Tigers chairman Paul Duffen confirmed the fall-out but declined to elaborate on how King will be punished.
"There's no definitive story to tell, as with any football club it will be dealt with in-house," Duffen told the
Hull Daily Mail.
Unacceptable
"He was disappointed with the team selection on Saturday and responded in an unacceptable manner so Phil sent him home.
"There's nothing further to say at this stage other than it will be dealt with internally."
King last started as a lone striker in the 2-0 defeat at Everton but having gone six games without a goal, Brown went with Daniel Cousin against the Gunners.
The arrival of Manucho on loan from Manchester United could also threaten King's hopes of a regular starting berth.
There is better news for the troubled Tigers with record signing Anthony Gardner expected to return from injury for the reserve team against Everton on Tuesday.
Gardner has not featured since a 2-1 success at Newcastle in September.
Andy Dawson, an unused sub against Arsenal on Saturday, is also expected to play.
