Tigers agree to let midfielder leave prematurely

Hull City have confirmed Bryan Hughes' contract has been terminated by mutual consent. The veteran midfielder is now a free agent after the Premier League strugglers agreed to cut short his current deal at the KC Stadium. The 33-year-old signed for the Tigers in 2007 on a free-transfer from Charlton Athletic before making 47 appearances and played his part in helping Hull secure promotion into the England's top tier. Hughes featured sparingly for the Tigers in their maiden season in the top-flight last term but failed to force his way into Phil Brown's plans this time round. Brown allowed the former Wrexham and Birmingham performer to join Derby on loan earlier in the campaign and it remains to be seen whether the Rams will decide to bring the central midfielder back to Pride Park.
