Kamel Ghilas claims a series of 'weird' events led to him securing another loan move away from Hull City over the summer.
The Algeria international joined the Tigers in 2009 as they attempted to prolong their Premier League adventure.
He was, however, unable to hold down a regular role and was loaned to Arles in 2010/11.
It was decided to move him on again this year, with Reims snapping him up on a season-long agreement.
Ghilas is happy to be back in France as he believes there was never any opportunity of him being offered a second chance at the KC Stadium.
Departure
"My departure from Hull City? It was weird," he told
France Football.
"I could not join the team for training but the manager was in the newspapers saying that I was part of his plans.
"That was not the case and I had to leave.
"Contacts in Turkey and Greece? I was not enthusiastic about them because there could be trouble at those clubs. A lot of players don't get paid there.
"Then Reims came along. By chance, I watched their game against Lens when there hadn't been any contact. I saw they were a very good team and when my agent talked about them I seized the opportunity."
