Leeds manager Steve Evans was pleased with his sides win away to Huddersfield

Steve Evans said he only wants players who will work hard for Leeds United after their 3-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday.

The victory was Leeds' second in as many games but it came after a slow start to the match that Evans described as 'disappointing'.

However, quick-fire goals just before half-time from Mirco Antenucci and Chris Wood changed the course of the game and Leeds added a third through Alex Mowatt after the break.

"I think it was disappointing for 40 minutes, that's for sure, and it didn't change what we said to them at half-time, the two goals," Evans told Sky Sports.

"We said to them that when you play for this football club, it means the world to other teams to come and beat you and we felt that Huddersfield would be like that with a new manager.

"We rode our luck a bit early doors, we had fantastic support and with our first piece of quality we score a goal. Second piece of quality - Murphy's through ball - we get a second goal and the boy Mowatt, he was on the floor when I walked in.

"I've worked so hard to lift him and he knows what I think of him, I don't need to say it on television."

Evans was also keen to stress the number of young players in his team and the amount of hard work that will be required if Leeds are to succeed.

"There are a lot of babies in this team and I've got no credit for that because that was people previous to me (who brought them through), but there are a lot of babies," Evans added.

"I'm going to encourage them to play, I'm going to pick them but we're going to have to work so hard.

"You see us off the bench, even at 3-0, and if you don't work hard for Leeds United then we don't want you as a player. It doesn't matter who you are.

"We've gained nothing, we've won back-to-back fixtures. That was the objective we set before Cardiff and the boys have achieved it."
