Thomas Christiansen has paid tribute to the Leeds fans following his departure from the club last Sunday.
The 44-year-old manager was sacked following Leeds' 4-1 home defeat to Cardiff - their seventh consecutive game without a win.
Christiansen was quickly replaced by Barnsley manager Paul Heckingbottom, whose first game in charge comes when Leeds travel to Sheffield United on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.
In a post on his personal Instagram account, Christiansen said: "I did not want to leave without saying goodbye to you, the fans.
"You are the most precious treasure of this wonderful football club. Managers, players, directors and presidents may change, but you are the ones who remain, together and united.
"Your passion and requirement for success just symbolises your strength. Thank you for all your support."
Christiansen's reign at Elland Road began strongly, with Leeds spending time at the top of the Championship table early in the season.
However, things quickly went wrong for the former Spanish international, and he departed with Leeds lying 10th in the table.
