The versatile 27-year-old has seen out the 2013/14 Championship campaign at the City Ground after being allowed to move on by Leeds United.
He has made seven appearances for Forest, in midfield and at centre-half, and has impressed with his commitment to the cause.
Incoming coach Stuart Pearce will have noted the qualities he brings, but Peltier claims to have been offered no indication as to whether a permanent approach for his services will be made this summer.
"I don't know what my future holds, I will sit down with my agent and discuss what happens," he said in the Nottingham Evening Post.
"I have been focused on playing here, I have not spoken to anyone about anything beyond this season. I will have a good chat with my agent and then go from there.
"Forest have a strong team and will be right up there next season. They have a good chairman who is backing them. It is a good club.
"They are a good set of lads, they are good to work with, as is Gary (Brazil), and I have really enjoyed my time here.
"All the staff have been great, as have the fans. That is all I can say. We will wait to see what the future holds."
As Peltier prepares to leave the Forest ranks, he admits that there is a buzz around the place as a club legend prepares to inherit the managerial reins.
He added: "It is a new era for the club under Stuart Pearce and everyone around the club is buzzing about him coming in.
"It is a fresh start for everyone. It will be a good opportunity for people."
