Former West Brom and Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is in the running for the vacant manager's job at Leeds, Sky Sports understands.
Leeds are searching for a new manager at Elland Road following the sacking of Dave Hockaday last week after just six games in charge.
A number of names have been linked with the vacancy and it is understood Mowbray has applied for the job.
Mowbray has been out of work since leaving Middlesbrough last October and he is keen to get back into management.
The 50-year-old has a wealth of management experience having started his coaching career at Ipswich before taking his first managerial role at Hibernian in 2004.
Mowbray impressed during his two seasons at Hibs before taking over at West Brom leading them to the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League in the 2007/08 campaign.
Mowbray, who is renowned for playing attractive, attacking football, moved to Celtic in 2009 before taking charge of hometown club Middlesbrough in October 2010 and he is ready for a return to management after almost a year out of the game.
