Assistant boss leaves Grecians post

John Yems has left his post as assistant manager of League One new boys Exeter City. Yems, whose family are based in Sussex, has taken the decision after concluding that he is unable to give his full commitment to the role. Unable to relocate to Devon, he felt that he was not up to the job of helping to guide a side that has experienced back-to-back promotions in recent years. He told the club's official website: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club and have loved every minute of it, but with the club stepping up to another level I know I can't do the job I need to unless I'm based here permanently. "When you've got a family it isn't that easy to just up sticks and relocate." City boss Paul Tisdale was full of praise of his departing number two, adding: "John was a key part of the team last season and his contribution cannot be underestimated. "We are very sorry to see him depart but understand his reasons for leaving and remain grateful for all the time and effort he put in."
