Southend came from behind to beat Leyton Orient 2-1 win away from home.

Barrett and McCormack seal 2-1 triumph

Southend came from behind to gain their third away win of the season and complete a double over Leyton Orient with a 2-1 win. Orient captain Tamika Mkandawire forced Southend keeper Ian Joyce to tip his header over at a third-minute set-piece. Jimmy Smith had a 26th-minute shot comfortably held by Joyce, but the first half was largely a drab affair. The home side broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when midfielder Adam Chambers pounced on a loose ball and drilled into the bottom corner. Southend replied two minutes later through skipper Adam Barrett, who joined an attack to punish Ben Chorley's slack clearance with a clinical finish. And United scored the winner when keeper Jamie Jones initially blocked Lee Barnard's effort only for midfielder Alan McCormack to follow up and score with 18 minutes remaining.
