Scunthorpe United have appointed former Ipswich and Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst as their new manager following relegation to League Two.
Stuart McCall was sacked by the club in March as the club sought to avoid the drop, putting first-team coach Andy Dawson in temporary charge at Glanford Park.
Hurst made over 450 appearances for Rotherham United in his playing career between 1993 and 2009.
He began managing in non-league football at Ilkeston Town and Boston United before guiding Grimsby Town back to the football league in 2016 after a six-year absence for the club.
He won plaudits for the job he did at New Meadow, helping Shrewsbury avoid relegation from League One in his first season, before guiding the Shrews to the Checkatrade and play-off finals in his second.
Hurst will be joined at Scunthorpe by assistant Paul Doig, a former Scottish defender who worked has with Hurst at Grimsby, Shrewsbury and Ipswich.
Scunthorpe also announced that Kenny Black and Nick Barmby have now left the club, but thanked them for their efforts whilst working with caretaker manager Dawson during his spell in charge.
