French striker hoping for better luck in 2011/12

Jeremie Aliadiere admits he hit 'rock-bottom' after seeing a New Year move to Blackpool collapse. The French forward has been forced to write off the entire 2010/11 campaign after failing to find a club. He was released by Middlesbrough in the summer of 2010 and quickly received a number of tentative enquiries. A trial at West Ham was set up, but the 28-year-old damaged knee ligaments shortly after linking up with the Hammers. Having worked his way back to full fitness, Aliadiere hoped a deal could be struck with Blackpool in January, after seeing the Seasiders put terms to him. Unfortunately a deal failed to materialise and the former Arsenal striker found himself back where he started, without a club and facing up to an uncertain future.

Contract

"I had a medical at Blackpool and everything was fine," Aliadiere told L'Equipe. "But on the day I should have signed, my contract was changed. Even the manager [Ian Holloway] didn't know about it. "I hit rock-bottom then. I had lost all my love for the game and I even talked about taking a different career path with my wife." Aliadiere eventually decided to stick with football and now hopes that a spell spent training with Arsenal will see him snapped up in time for the 2011/12 season. "I am happy and enjoying myself again," he added. "It is like being back home."
