Sky Bet Championship: Blackpool appoint Lee Clark as new manager

Lee Clark has finally been made the new Blackpool boss a week after being sacked by Birmingham, according to Sky sources.

Blackpool dismissed Jose Riga on Monday evening, just over four months after his appointment at Bloomfield Road and paid the price for steering the club to the foot of the Championship after 14 games.

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston had previously approached Owen Coyle and Gary Rowett about taking the job, but both turned down the opportunity, with the latter appointed by Birmingham – the club who sacked Clark earlier this month.

Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday that talks were under way between Blackpool and Clark and despite some delays over the paperwork, Sky sources can reveal that an agreement has been reached.

A news conference is expected to unveil Clark as the new man on Thursday.
