QPR avoided another Capital One Cup upset as they eased into the second round with a comfortable 3-0 victory over League Two Yeovil at Huish Park.

Rangers had been felled by lower league opposition in the league cup four times out of the last five seasons, but Chris Ramsey's Championship side showed their gulf in class without leaving first gear and sealed the win thanks to goals from Sebastian Polter, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Nedum Onuoha.

Yeovil never looked like making it a tricky tie, despite the first shot at goal coming in the 11th minute from nippy winger Iffy Allen, who curled just over the bar.

Glovers' on-loan defender Stephen Arthurworrey gifted QPR the chance to open the scoring after 15 minutes when he was caught flat-footed by German striker Polter, who powered through and dinked home first goal for the club.

The Londoners slipped into cruise control just four minutes later when Cole Kpekawa fired a low cross to former Bristol City forward Emmanuel-Thomas, who doubled his side's lead at the far post.

A double change at half-time sparked Yeovil into life and former England international Robert Green's gloves were stung for the first time by Matthew Dolan before Arthurworrey headed against the crossbar from the resulting corner.

The positive home burst was short-lived though as QPR captain Onuoha fired in a third after 55 minutes when Yeovil failed to clear a corner, putting to bed any hopes for the underdogs.
