Rochdale lifted themselves off the foot of the League Two table with a 2-0 win against Oldham in their Greater Manchester derby.
The home side took the lead just seven minutes in. Charlie Tasker and Jonny Smith combined down the right, and Tasker's low delivery in behind the retreating Oldham defence was swept into the roof of the net by Dan Moss.
Oldham frontman Mike Fondop missed a gilt-edged chance on 25 minutes, sliding the ball wide of the post with an open goal at his mercy after a mistake from Dale stopper Nils Ramming, who had his pocket picked by Keenan Appiah-Forson.
The visitors continued to press forward after the interval, Kane Drummond's delivery across the face of goal eluding Fondop and substitute Calum Kavanagh.
Dale delivered a sucker punch when they doubled the lead on 62 minutes. Latics keeper Matt Hudson's kick towards the halfway line was met by Baba Adeeko, who headed the ball forward for Dajaune Brown to advance into the penalty area, side-step Donervon Daniels and slam a firm drive into the bottom corner.
