Oldham Athletic have signed teenage striker Chris Hall to his first professional contract.

The tall 18-year-old has penned a deal until June 2008 with The Latics after progressing through the ranks at Boundary Park.

Hall scored six goals in six matches for the club's reserves and was surprised to receive a deal with Ronnie Moore's side.

"I could not believe it when (chief executive) Mr Hardy said, that after having discussed my position with the manager, the club were offering me a pro contract until 2008," Hall told the club's official website.

"Obviously, I am delighted with the offer and hope I can continue to score goals and develop my game.

"I know there are one or aspects of my game that I need to improve but hopefully with the right coaching, I can do that."
