Carlos Carvalhal has told Sky Sports News he turned down the manager's job at Sporting Lisbon because he wants to manage in England.
In an interview with Portuguese TV, the former Swansea boss revealed he wants to return to management in England, and also confirmed he has turned down job offers in other countries because of family issues.
Carvalhal said: "Working in England is my total priority, and it hurts me a lot refuse offers from English clubs, but in this moment I must support my family.
"I think after September I will be available, and it's my priority to be back in the UK."
Carvalhal succeeded Paul Clement as Swansea boss in December 2017, but parted company with the Welsh side following the club's relegation from the Premier League.
