Chairman Huw Jenkins says Swansea City remain in the market for fresh faces but are being frustrated by a World Cup hangover.

A number of high-profile deals have been done this summer, with players who graced the global showpiece in Brazil involved.

It is, however, difficult to hold discussions with players who are yet to return for pre-season training and clubs who are reluctant to talk until they have contingency plans in place.

Swansea are therefore not the only club being forced to favour a patient approach to recruitment.

Jenkins is not about to give up, though, with the Liberty Stadium board working hard with manager Garry Monk to bring quality additions to South Wales.

He told the Evening Post: “Garry would like to get a couple more players in and there are a couple more things we are trying to finalise.

“Things have not proved easy in the last couple of weeks.

“A lot of that is to do with the World Cup. Players are coming back late and clubs are coming back late.

“They are all waiting for developments themselves before they will do any business.

“It’s been a hard spell for us but we will keep on working hard to get things right.”
