Wilfried Bony thinks his manager Garry Monk made a mistake by not starting him in the 1-1 draw with QPR.

The striker came off the bench with 20 minutes to go and scored a dramatic late equaliser for his side, who were down to 10 men.

Leroy Fer had given QPR an early lead but despite Wayne Routledge’s sending off with seven minutes remaining, Bony conjured up a moment of magic to snatch Swansea a late point.

Bafetimbi Gomis started up front instead of Bony, who has been linked with a move away from Swansea recently, and the Ivorian thought it was the wrong decision to drop him.

“I came onto the pitch and showed him (Monk) that I should have started,” he said.

Wilfried Bony felt Swansea fully deserved their 1-1 draw with QPR

“I was brought on to push the team up and do my best to score. I was disappointed not to start but the coach made his choice. Everyone wants to play.”

Swansea’s chairman Huw Jenkins said last week he has not received any contact regarding Bony and insists it would take an “astronomical” fee to prise the striker away from the club.

Judging by his performance Bony’s focus is still on the job in hand with Swansea and he thought his side, who had 25 shots on goal during the game, were good value for the point.

“We came here to win but we got some chances that we didn’t score which was not good for us,” he said.

“We conceded a goal but we continued to play and in the second half I try to push my team and do my best. The team gave it the maximum effort and we deserved this point.”

Monk refused to be drawn on whether the striker will be on his way in January.

"It's speculation, there's nothing concrete.

"I think you can see today from when Wilfried came on, he showed his focus for our club and respect to the players and the staff. That was in his performance.

"To say his mind is elsewhere, is clearly not true, he's actually very focused on doing well for Swansea."
