Luke Joyce will serve a three-match suspension after Carlisle's appeal against his red card was rejected.

The midfielder was shown a straight red card midway through the first half of the Sky Bet League Two clash against Wycombe on Saturday for a challenge on Sam Wood.

The Cumbrians went on to earn a 1-1 draw but, after submitting video and written evidence to the Football Association in support of the appeal, the panel decided that referee Rob Lewis made the correct decision and Joyce's ban will begin with immediate effect.

Club secretary Sarah McKnight told Carlisle's official website: "We felt we had a very good case for the red card to be overturned, hence the decision to take it to appeal.

"Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. We have asked if we can be given the reasons for the outcome, but we can confirm that the appeals process is now at its conclusion."
