Goalkeeper tied to United until summer of 2012

Carlisle United goalkeeper Mark Gillespie has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until the end of next season. The soon-to-be 19-year-old moved to Brunton Park on a Youth Training Scheme from Newcastle's Academy in 2008, while also spending a loan spell with Blyth Spartans. Gillespie then progressed to earn a one-year playing contract and has now agreed an extended deal. Carlisle manager Greg Abbott told the club's official website: "Mark has really developed and grown and we are delighted with his progress. "The loan spell at Blyth was fantastic for him and we are definitely seeing and hearing the right things."
