Defender signs three-and-a-half year contract at the Keepmoat

Doncaster Rovers have swooped to sign West Bromwich Albion defender Shelton Martis for an undisclosed fee. Martis has returned to the Keepmoat Stadium on a permanent basis after impressing during a brief spell on loan at Rovers in the first half of last season. He scored once in five appearances for Sean O'Driscoll's side last term and has now accepted a three-and-a-half year contract to return to Doncaster. The 27-year-old joined West Brom from Hibernian in 2007, but he made just 25 appearances during his time at The Hawthorns. The former Darlington centre-half started this season as a regular in Roberto Di Matteo's side, but he has appeared just twice as a late substitute in the Championship since early October. Martis could now make an immediate debut for Doncaster at the weekend against Reading, with O'Driscoll currently short at the back due to injuries to Jason Shackell and Adam Lockwood.
