Striker to play in Boro clash after death of his baby son
Billy Sharp will play in Doncaster's Championship clash with Middlesbrough on Tuesday night after the tragic death of his two-day-old son.
Sharp was ruled out of the 1-1 draw with Coventry at the weekend due to an unspecified "family issue", and it was revealed by the club on Tuesday evening that Louie Jacob Sharp passed away on Saturday.
Sharp has asked to lead players and supporters in a minute's applause before the game with Boro to celebrate the short life of his son.
Meanwhile, Rovers boss Dean Saunders has spoken of his determination to keep hold of the striker, who has been linked with a January switch away from the Keepmoat Stadium.
Speaking before the tragic news regarding Sharp's son, Saunders told the
Sheffield Star: "He is our player.
"He has had a bad injury and is coming back from that.
"He is still not right and he knows that himself. I'm hoping he starts banging in goals for us."
