Veteran keeper earns praise from Doncaster team-mate Friend

Doncaster Rovers captain George Friend has showered praise on veteran Neil Sullivan despite the goalkeeper losing his place in the side recently. The former Scotland international dropped to the bench for Rovers' 2-0 defeat at local rivals Barnsley in the Championship on Saturday, with new loan recruit Carl Ikeme preferred between the posts. However, the 41-year-old put pen to paper on a new one-year extension to his current contract recently, which would take him beyond his 43rd birthday. And Friend told skysports.com that he cannot imagine Sullivan calling it a day on his distinguished career.

Incredible

"He is incredible and has had an unbelievable career that is still going into his 40s," he enthused. "He is a really great guy and all-round professional and to be honest I can't ever see him retiring, so he might just keep on going. "He has got so much experience and that is great for defenders like myself because you feel safe that he has the ability to keep you in games for long periods. "When he pays you a compliment you feel on top of the world too because he has played with so many great players and he knows what he is talking about."
