Millwall midfielder Jimmy Abdou has had a collarbone operation and will be out for more than two months.

Abdou suffered the injury during the 5-3 defeat at Peterborough at the beginning of October but the 31-year-old was not the only Lions player to sustain injury against Posh.

Ed Upson damaged medial knee ligaments in the same match and he is likely to be out until at least the middle of November.

Meanwhile, it is hoped that forward Paris Cowan-Hall, who has been struggling with a groin problem, could resume training next week.

"We currently have three first-team players in the treatment room, all of whom are there as a result of collision injuries which occurred during matches," Millwall physio Bobby Bacic told the club's official website.

"Jimmy underwent surgery on Thursday to repair his dislocated collarbone. Although he was facing the daunting prospect of a first-ever operation, Jimmy - ever the gentleman - still found the time before his procedure to help an elderly patient to her feet in the hospital waiting room, despite still having his arm in a sling.

"We now have a new fan from the previously non-Millwall stronghold of St John's Wood.

"Now that this surgical procedure has been done Jimmy is looking at a return to action towards the very end of December.

"Ed, like Jimmy, suffered a collision injury during the Peterborough match. He has partially torn his medial knee ligament and although Ed will not require surgery, he will definitely not be involved in any matches this month and will aim to return mid to late November.

"Finally, Paris is recovering well from the injury to his groin and is on course to rejoin the training group within a week."
