Millwall manager Neil Harris has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following last weekend's ill-tempered game at Gillingham.

Harris was sent to the stands late on at Priestfield as tempers boiled over following Mahlon Romeo's late challenge on Brennan Dickenson, which earned the Lions defender a red card.

The FA announced on Monday that Romeo would miss the club's play-off campaign due to a three-match suspension, despite Millwall lodging a complaint against the decision, and now the governing body has charged Harris for his behaviour in the aftermath of that incident.

In a series of tweets, the FA said: "Millwall manager Neil Harris has been charged for misconduct in relation to the game against Gillingham on 8 May 2016.

"It is alleged that in or around the 86th minute of the fixture, his language and/or behaviour was improper.

"He has until 6pm on 16 May 2016 to respond to the charge."

Asked about his dismissal after the game, Harris had said: "I shouted across the pitch because I wanted the referee to tell me why he sent him off and he thought I was being hostile towards him and sent me to the stands.
