Jackett keen on Stevenage stopper

Sky Sports understands Millwall are eyeing a move for Stevenage defender Scott Laird. Laird's consistent performances at Broadhall Way have caught the attention of several clubs higher up the Football League who are weighing up moves for the player during this month's transfer window. The 23-year-old picked up the club's player of the season award in the 2009-10 campaign as Stevenage won promotion to the Football League and he also played a key role in their successful promotion to League One last term. Laird's current deal expires at the end of the season and Laird could be available for a cut-price fee this month as Stevenage want to avoid risk losing him for nothing in the summer. Millwall are believed to have held a long-term interest in the full-back and Lions boss Kenny Jackett is weighing up a move for Laird to bolster his squad. A number of other clubs are waiting in the wings to sign Laird and Stevenage face a fight to keep hold of the player before the transfer window closes next week.
