Crewe will take on Swindon at Gresty Road in Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 clash despite a host of international absentees on both sides.
The hosts are without Canada's Marcus Haber and Wales Under-21s cap Harry Wilson.
But Chris Atkinson is primed for his first start of the season in the absence of Billy Bingham, who has picked up a hamstring problem.
Atkinson should partner David Fox and Adam King in a three-man midfield, while James Jones is still ruled out with shoulder trouble.
Wales defender Jordan Williams, Iraq's Yaser Kasim and Northern Ireland Under-21s man Jordan Stewart are all missing for Swindon.
New signing Wes Thomas is available for the visitors, with former Crewe loan man Nicky Ajose also expected to make the trip.
Ajose signed for Swindon on Wednesday after being released by Leeds United.
