Rose for Rovers

BRISTOL ROVERS have bolstered their defence with the signing of Gillingham youngster Richard Rose.

The 20-year-old has found his chances limited at The Priestfield Stadium and so he will now spend the festive period with The Pirates.

"Richard is a young defender who is highly rated by the staff at Gillingham," said Rovers boss Ray Graydon.

"He can play anywhere along the back-line, including left back, and will give us the cover we need for that position, which is required because of the injury to Trevor Challis.

"I'm delighted that he has agreed to join us and I know that he is desperate to come here. I have signed him, initially, on a one-month loan."

Meanwhile, striker Justin Richards has joined Conference side Stevenage Borough on a month's loan after falling out of favour at the Memorial Stadium.
