Gillingham are weighing up their options regarding the future of star striker Simeon Jackson.
The Canada international has top scored for the club in each of the last two seasons, but was unable to prevent them slipping out of League One last term.
Relegation has seen a number of clubs express an interest in taking the talented 23-year-old, offering him an opportunity to ply his trade higher up the League ladder.
Championship new boys Millwall and Norwich City are believed to be among those who are keen and could opt to make a summer approach.
Gillingham are understandably keen to retain the services of their most potent attacking weapon, but accept that they are in a difficult position.
Jackson has just one year left to run on his current contract at Priestfield, meaning he could walk away as a free agent in 12 months time.
Gills chairman Paul Scally has revealed that he attempted to tie the strike ace down on fresh terms last season, but to no avail, and admits he may struggle to fend off the advances of clubs who can match his ambition.

"I haven't had any credible bids for Simeon Jackson so far," he told
Kent Online.
"I have been in discussion with his agent and I've told him we'll be looking forward to seeing him on 1st July. That's as far as it's gone.
"We did offer him a new deal last season but he turned it down. I don't think he would sign a new deal at this moment in time.
"He has a year left on his contract and he'll either see it out or he won't.
"He was part of the team that got us down and he'll be part of the team who gets us up unless someone comes in with an offer that is acceptable to the club."
Meanwhile, Scally has also confirmed that negotiations regarding a deal for Cardiff defender Darren Dennehy remain ongoing.
He added: "It's something we've been working on. We have asked him to come and he is keen, we have to try and resolve a few issues first."
