Managerless Oldham began life after Frankie Bunn with an emphatic 4-1 win at Port Vale.

Callum Lang opened the scoring for Oldham, who sacked boss Bunn on Thursday, after 32 minutes following a mix-up in Vale's defence. The striker, on loan from Wigan, drove a right-footed shot low under goalkeeper Scott Brown into the bottom left-corner.

But Neil Aspin's hosts drew level six minutes before half-time when Ben Whitfield turned Antony Kay's free-kick beyond visiting stopper Daniel Iversen from close-range.

Oldham caretaker boss Pete Wild saw his side retake the lead on 53 minutes when Mohamed Maouche backheeled Tom Hamer's long throw into the box from the right into the bottom corner via a deflection.
