Port Vale have announced John Askey has been appointed as manager until the end of the season.
The 54-year-old will be joined by Dave Kevan, who has been named assistant manager.
Port Vale chief executive Colin Garlick says: "We wish John and Dave all the very best as they take up their new positions with the club. My staff and I will do all we can to support them and I ask all Valiants to do the same.
"I'd also like thank Danny Pugh, Ronnie Sinclair and Michael Tonge for stepping in last week and working in a helpful and professional manner."
Askey has previously had two spells as Macclesfield Town manager and more recently managed Shrewsbury, but was sacked last November after a run of five wins in 21 games.
