Sam Hoskins scored his second goal of the night with this superb flick against Tranmere – but did the Northampton man mean it?

Sam Hoskins scored a brilliant backheel volley in Northampton's 2-1 win against Tranmere in Sky Bet League Two on Tuesday night.

On the stroke of half-time Hoskins scored his second goal of the evening at Prenton Park, facing away from goal, with an audacious flick which looped over goalkeeper Scott Davies into the bottom corner.

Hoskins had not scored before Tuesday's fixture in the league since April last year, but his goal of the season contender is one the 26-year-old will certainly remember.
