Brighton defender Markus Suttner has completed a move to Fortuna Dusseldorf on loan for the rest of the season.

Suttner has featured only once for Brighton's first team this season, playing 90 minutes when they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Southampton in August.

The 31-year-old has made a total of 18 appearances for Chris Hughton's side since a move from German side Ingolstadt in the summer of 2017.

Hughton said: "Markus has been a great pro since he joined us two summers ago, but he hasn't been able to play the number of games he would have liked, due to the strong competition we have in the left-back position.

"This move will allow him to play regular football in the top division of the Bundesliga. I would like to wish him all the very best for the remainder of the season."

Suttner joins a Dusseldorf side sitting 14th in the 18-strong Bundesliga table, just four points ahead of Stuttgart who sit in the relegation play-off place.
