Brighton boss Chris Hughton says their performance was very unlike his side, after they went 2-0 up to then lose the game 4-2 against Fulham in the Premier League.

Chris Hughton was left feeling frustrated with Brighton's finishing in their 4-2 defeat to Fulham on Tuesday night.

Glenn Murray scored twice to put Brighton into the lead at Craven Cottage but also saw two more chances expertly saved by Sergio Rico to keep Fulham in the match.

"If our finishing is better we put the game beyond any doubt and if we don't defend better it's going to be a hard evening for us, which it was," said Hughton.

"It was a game probably where we had more chances than most of the season and at 2-1 we had a chance to get a third."

Brighton went into the break leading 2-0 after dominating proceedings in the opening 45 minutes but then saw Fulham score four unanswered goals in the second half thanks in part to some poor defending from the visitors..

Highlights from Fulham's 4-2 win over Brighton in the Premier League.

"For as good as we were in the first half period, we were as bad in the second half period.

"I think once they get the first goal, that gives the some momentum and once they get the second they're in full flow then."

Brighton now have four home games out of their next six Premier League fixtures, with Hughton hoping they will be able to forget about their miserable second half offering at Fulham as they look to move closer to securing safety.

"We know that it is a tough division for us, and every game whether we are 2-0 up at half-time or at home, they are all difficult games.

"Our performance going into these next group of games needs to be more like our first half than our second half."
