Brighton face an FA Cup fifth-round clash with Derby on Saturday and Seagulls boss Chris Hughton spoke of his admiration for Rams manager Frank Lampard

Chris Hughton has admitted that his players are frustrated with Brighton still yet to register a Premier League win in 2019.

The Seagulls have fallen to 14th after failing to record a victory in six top-flight games and are now just three points above the relegation zone.

Brighton are on a run of just one win in 11 Premier League matches - a 1-0 success over Everton on December 29 - and Hughton is under no illusions that recent results have affected his side.

"The players are feeling frustration - that's obvious," he said on Thursday. "In such a short period of time the dynamics of the league have changed.

"We never felt comfortable but that was the perception. I still feel confidence in the camp.

"In our last two home matches the opposition goalkeeper has won Man of the Match. That can happen. We have to take the positives of that going forward."

Brighton now turn their attentions to the FA Cup, where they face Sky Bet Championship side Derby at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

"The mentality within the squad is very good," Hughton added. "We've reached this stage of the FA Cup by some hard work.

"We hope we can continue that, the teams that we've put out in the last rounds justifies our intentions of wanting to go through. Some of the bigger sides have gone out, but for us it's always about taking it one round at a time.

"We're the favourites this weekend and we understand that. We'd always rather be playing at home against a side outside the top flight - but Derby are in really good form at the moment.

"I remember Frank Lampard as a young player. He went to school quite close to the old Spurs training ground.

"He was the type of player all coaches admired. He was a hard worker and ended up being one of the best box to box players this country has produced."
