Leyton Orient have sacked manager Geraint Williams following Saturday's defeat by Hartlepool United.
One win in 11 games leads to manager's dismissal
Relegation threatened Leyton Orient have sacked manager Geraint Williams following Saturday's defeat by fellow strugglers Hartlepool United.
Williams has parted company with the League One club after the 3-1 home defeat left Orient just one point outside the drop zone.
The Os have won only once in their last 11 matches and chairman Barry Hearn feels a change in manager is the best course of action to take.
Hearn told the club's
official website: "The performance against Hartlepool was abysmal and ultimately the responsibility for that lies with the manager.
"We're on a dreadful run of form and this decision has been taken in order to give us the best chance of staying in League One.
"Geraint is as honest and professional a manager as you will find in football and it's unfortunate things have not worked out, but I thank him for his efforts and I wish him every success in the future."
Former Colchester boss Williams had been in charge of the Os since February last year and he had won 21 of his 62 matches at the helm.
Kevin Nugent, who had been caretaker boss prior to Williams' appointment, will be in charge of team affairs for Monday's game against Southampton.
