Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie has expressed his delight to have signed a new contract with the Sky Bet Championship promotion chasers.

The winger signed a three-and-a-half-year contract extension with the table-topping Cherries on Saturday amid rumours linking him with a move away from the south coast.

Bournemouth lost 2-1 at home to Norwich on Saturday

But he explained how the prospect of becoming an established top-flight player made putting pen to paper a simple decision.

"I'm delighted, I've loved my time here," he told BBC Radio Solent.

"I think everything around the place and everything that is happening is positive.

"The club's in a great place and hopefully we've got a great chance to get to the Premier League.

"To establish myself as a Premier League footballer is a dream, and if I can do this with this group of players and with this club it would be special."
