Rotherham boss Neil Redfearn says the club are waiting on formalities to extend Grant Ward's loan from Tottenham.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been a star performer for the Millers this season but his temporary deal at New York Stadium ends after this weekend's clash with Charlton.

Redfearn insists a deal is in place to extend it, though there have been delays owing to the nature of it.

"We've got an agreement with Spurs and it's an ongoing thing," Redfearn said. "We want to keep him. Spurs like the idea that he's developing with us. He's coming on. He's developing into a real asset and a top-class player.

"It's just sorting out the fine details of the agreement. That takes dialogue between the two clubs. I've got confidence that Grant will be with us.

"I think Spurs have realised he's in a good place at this moment in time. It crossed borders between it being a normal loan and a youth loan so it had to be done in a certain way to get it to January.

"There is an agreement after that. It's just about fine-lining the agreement and getting hold of the relevant people. Spurs have been good with us. The sooner we can sort it out, the more settled Grant can be."
