Managerless Rotherham announce retained list

Managerless Rotherham have rewarded five of the players that fired them to Sky Bet Championship safety with contract offers, though 11 have been released.

The Millers, led by Neil Warnock, lost just two of their last 13 games to book their stay in the second tier for a third successive season and the core of that group have been offered deals.

Kirk Broadfoot, Richard Wood, Stephen Kelly, Matt Derbyshire and Leon Best have all received offers to stay at New York Stadium with talks ongoing.

However, there has been a mass clearout with the list of departures heading into double figures.

Frazer Richardson, Lewis Buxton, Danny Collins, Lloyd Doyley, Adam Collin, Paddy Kenny, Alex Cairns, Paul Green, Emmanuel Ledesma, Jerome Thomas and Luciano Becchio will all leave the club at the end of their deals.

A club statement read: "Rotherham United would like to thank all of our departing players for their effort whilst with the club, and we wish them all well for the future."

The retained list comes from recommendations from former manager Warnock, who left his role on Wednesday after choosing not to extend his short-term deal.
